Penggunaan Stek Batang dengan Diameter Berbeda terhadap Hasil Rumput Gajah Gama Umami (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Gama Umami)

Abstract


ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan diameter stek batang yang berbeda terhadap hasil rumput gajah Gama Umami (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Gama Umami) yang dilihat dari berat kering daun dan batang, berat kering tajuk dan akar, rasio berat kering daun/batang, serta rasio berat kering tajuk/akar tanaman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen yang disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 6 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah ukuran diameter stek batang yang berbeda meliputi D1: 1–1,2 cm (diameter kecil), D2: 1,3–1,8 cm (diameter sedang), dan D3: 1,9–2,2 cm (diameter besar). Peubah yang diamati meliputi berat kering daun dan batang, berat kering tajuk dan akar, rasio berat kering daun/batang, dan rasio berat kering tajuk/akar tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan ukuran diameter stek batang berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap berat kering daun, batang, tajuk dan akarnya dengan nilai rataan tertinggi pada perlakuan D1 (diameter kecil) dibandingkan perlakuan D3 (diameter besar). Disimpulkan perlakuan dengan diameter yang lebih kecil mampu memberikan hasil produksi yang lebih tinggi. Pertumbuhan awal tanaman sangat memengaruhi hasil dari tanaman.

The Use of Stem Cuttings with Different Diameters on the Yield of Gama Umami Elephant Grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Gama Umami)

ABSTRACT. This research aims to determine the effect of using different stem cutting diameters on the yield of Gama Umami elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Gama Umami) as seen from the dry weight of leaves and stems, the dry weight of shoots and roots, leaves/stems dry weight ratio, and shoot/roots dry weight ratio. The method used in this research is an experimental method arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and six replications. The treatments were different stem cutting diameter sizes, including D1:1-1,2 cm (small diameter), D2:1,3-1,8 cm (medium diameter), and D3:1,9-2,2 cm (large diameter). The variables observed included the dry weight of leaves and stems, the dry weight of shoots and roots, the leaves/stems dry weight ratio, and the shoots/roots dry weight ratio. The result showed that different stem diameters had a significant effect (P<0,05) on the dry weight of leaves, stems, shoots and roots, with the highest mean value in D1 (small diameter) compared to D3 (large diameter) treatment. It was concluded that plants with smaller stem diameters provided higher production yields. Early growth of the plant greatly influences the yields.
