Pemikiran Tafsir Al-Qur’an Kontemporer: Studi Komparatif Metode Tafsir Amīn Al-Khūlī dan Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd

Abstract


This paper discusses the dynamics of contemporary Qur'anic exegesis by comparing the views of Amīn al-Khūlī and Nashr Hamīd AbūZayd. Both figures are known as reformers in the field of Qur'anic exegesis, with an approach leaning towards linguistic/language and literary interpretation. The purpose of this comparison is to identify the similarities and differences between the two figures, who notably share a teacher-student intellectual lineage. This study is a library research type, utilizing a comparative study method. The results of this study show that the two important figures in this field, Amīn al-Khūlī and Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd, offer different approaches to understanding the Qur'an. Amīn al-Khūlī, influenced by Western literary analysis methods, emphasizes the use of literary tools to interpret the Qur'an, focusing on language structure, rhetorical figures, and literary composition to explore the literal and implicit meanings of the verses. In contrast, Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd employs a broader hermeneutic approach, encompassing social, cultural, and historical context analysis when the Qur'an was revealed. Abū Zayd emphasizes the use of classical Arabic to uncover hidden and implicit meanings, as well as how metaphors and symbolism in the sacred text convey divine messages. This comparative study aims to deepen our understanding of the various methodological approaches in Qur'anic exegesis, as well as explore the significant similarities and differences between the methods of Amīn al-Khūlī and Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd in addressing the challenges of the modern era.


Abstrak: Tulisan ini menjelaskan tentang dinamika pemikiran tafsir Al-Qur’an kontemporer dengan membandingkan pandangan Amīn al-Khūlīdan Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd. Kedua tokoh ini dikenal sebagai pembaharu di bidang tafsir Al-Qur’an dengan corak penafsiran yang lebih condong pada penafsiran linguistik/bahasa dan sastra. Tujuan komparasi ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi persamaan dan perbedaan dari kedua tokoh tersebut yang notabene memiliki silsilah keilmuan guru-murid. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan, dengan menggunakan metode studi komparatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa, dua tokoh penting dalam bidang ini, Amīn al-Khūlī dan Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd, menawarkan pendekatan berbeda dalam memahami Al-Qur’an. Amīn al-Khūlī, terpengaruh oleh metode analisis sastra Barat, menekankan penggunaan alat-alat sastra untuk menafsirkan Al-Qur’an, dengan fokus pada struktur bahasa, figur retoris, dan komposisi sastra untuk mendalami makna literal dan implisit ayat-ayat. Sebaliknya, Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutika yang lebih luas, mencakup analisis konteks sosial, budaya, dan historis saat Al-Qur’an diturunkan. Abū Zayd menekankan penggunaan bahasa Arab klasik untuk mengungkap makna tersembunyi dan implisit, serta bagaimana metafora dan simbolisme dalam teks suci menyampaikan pesan ilahi. Studi komparatif ini bertujuan untuk memperdalam pemahaman kita terhadap berbagai pendekatan metodologis dalam penafsiran Al-Qur’an, serta menggali persamaan dan perbedaan signifikan antara metode Amīn al-Khūlī dan Nashr Hamīd Abū Zayd dalam menghadapi tantangan zaman modern yang kompleks.
