Focus
Al-Qudwah: Jurnal Studi Al-Qur'an dan Hadis is a journal published by the Qur'an and Tafsir Studies Program and the Hadith Studies Program of the Faculty of Ushuluddin at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim, Riau, Indonesia. This journal is designed to promote, facilitate, and bring together scholarly work in Qur’anic and Hadith studies, following a rigorous peer-review process. It focuses on textual and contextual approaches, welcoming high-quality manuscripts in Indonesian and English. The journal aims to facilitate global ideas exchanges, including scholars from the East and the West, and promote integrative research.
Scope
Al-Qudwah: Jurnal Studi Al-Qur’an dan Hadis specializes in studying the theory and practice of Qur’an and Hadith Studies and is intended to express original research and current issues. The journal welcomes the contributions of scholars, researchers, and enthusiasts in the field of Qur’an and Hadith studies, considering the following general topics:
- The Qur’an and Hadith Studies in the Malay World
- The Qur’an and Hadith in response to modern-contemporary issues
- The Qur’an and Hadith Studies in manuscript, print, and digital forms
- Dynamics of Qur’anic and Hadith Studies on Social Media

Peer Review Process
Al-Qudwah publishes two issues per year in June and December. The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editor. It will be evaluated in the office, whether it is suitable for Al-Qudwah focus and scope or has a major methodological flaw and similarity score by using Turnitin. The manuscript will be sent to at least two anonymous reviewers (Double Blind Review). Reviewers' comments are then sent to the corresponding author for necessary actions and responses.
The suggested decision will be evaluated in an editorial board meeting. Afterword, the editor will send the final decision to the corresponding author. Utilizing feedback from the peer review process, the Editor will make a final publication decision. The review process will take approximately 4 to 12 weeks. Decisions categories include:
- Reject - Rejected manuscripts will not be published and authors will not have the opportunity to resubmit a revised version of the manuscript to Al-Qudwah.
- Resubmit for Review– The submission needs to be reworked, but with significant changes, may be accepted. However, It will require a second round of review.
- Accept with Revisions - Manuscripts receiving an accept-pending-revisions decision will be published in Al-Qudwah under the condition that minor/major modifications are made. Revisions will be reviewed by an editor to ensure necessary updates are made prior to publication.
- Accept - Accepted manuscripts will be published in the current form with no further modifications required.
Publication Frequency
Al-Qudwah is a journal published by the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program and the Hadith Science Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin, State Islamic University Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The journal Al-Qudwah is published twice a year in January-June and July-December.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
This journal is open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to users or / institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to full text articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or author. This is in accordance with The Budapest Open Access Initiative.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Al-Qudwah is a journal published by the Qur'an and Tafsir Science Study Program and the Hadith Science Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin, Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The Journal contains articles and scientific works about the Study of Al-Qur'an, Hadith Studies, Contemporary Interpretation Studies, Study of Al-Qur'an Manuscripts, and Interpretation.
Generative AI Policies
Authors are required to disclose the use of generative AI in the writing process when submitting a manuscript.The following guidelines relate exclusively to the writing process and do not encompass the use of AI tools for data analysis or the derivation of research insights.
- Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies should be employed solely to improve the readability and linguistic quality of the manuscript.
- These tools must be employed under human supervision, with authors diligently reviewing and editing the outputs, as artificial intelligence can produce content that appears authoritative but may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. Authors maintain full responsibility and accountability for the content of their work.
- Artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies should not be designated as authors or co-authors, as the responsibilities associated with authorship can only be fulfilled by human individuals.
Authors are required to disclose the utilisation of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies during the writing process by providing a statement at the conclusion of the manuscript upon initial submission. This statement will be incorporated into the published version of the article and should be positioned in a new section preceding the references. An example of the prescribed format is provided below:
- Title of New Section: Declaration of the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process
- Statement: During the preparation of this work, the author(s) employed [Name of Tool/Service] for [Reason]. Following the use of this tool/service, the author(s) undertook a thorough review and implemented the necessary revisions to the content, thereby assuming full responsibility for the final version of the published article.
This declaration is not required when employing basic tools, such as grammar or spelling checkers and reference management software. If no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies have been utilised, no statement is necessary.
