Author Guidelines
General Provisions: Articles must be the result of research or conceptual studies on language education, linguistics, or literature. Articles should be written in English.
Special Provisions:
- TITLE: Article titles should be a maximum of 14 words. Write them concisely and with a unique and novel element.
- AUTHOR: Maximum of authors are five (5) authors. One of them must serve as the corresponding author (could be the first, second, and so on). Authors can be from the same or different affiliations. GJBS prioritizes authors with different affiliations and different countries.
- ABSTRACT: A concise abstract in Indonesian and English should be written in 80–100 words. It should contain the research title, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Provide 3–5 keywords that describe the substance of the article. The abstract should be single-spaced, using Arial Nova Cond 11, single-spaced.
- KEYWORD: 3-5 keywords that reflect the substance of the article.
- INTRODUCTION: The introductory section contains the background, research context, urgency of the problem, results of the main literature review which is the basis of the research, previous research results which are relevant to the research study, and research objectives. Authors are strongly advised to use references from reputable journal articles from the latest publications and from articles published in Gurindam: Journal of Language and Literature to serve as a basis for research. The entire introductory section is presented in an integrated manner in paragraph form, not divided into sections written in the chapter model of a research report/thesis/dissertation thesis. The length of the introduction is 15-20% of the total text. The introduction and subsequent sections are written in Arial Nova Cond 12, spacing 1.15.
METHOD: The research methods section explains the methods used by the researcher to produce the findings. This section should demonstrate the author's systematic scientific procedures to arrive at conclusions. The methods section includes the research approach and methodology, data sources/populations and samples, sample selection/data source determination, data collection instruments and methods, and data analysis techniques. This section describes the procedures and research steps specific to the topic being studied. The methods section should be approximately 10–15% of the total length of the manuscript. The methods section should be written in Arial Nova Cond 12, 1.15 spacing.
RESULT: This research results section contains a presentation of the data analysis results. Present the research results according to the objectives/problems studied and the procedures outlined in the methods section. The results of the data analysis are presented in the form of patterns, characteristics, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and other things according to the characteristics of the research. Include tables, diagrams, figures, or quotations as needed to make the visualization of the research results easy for readers to understand. The results are written in Arial Nova Cond 12, 1.15 spacing. The table model can be seen in the example. The table is created with only three full horizontal lines. Avoid using "table above", "table below", "table below", but directly refer to the table number.
DISCUSSION: Discuss the findings in this section. Manuscript writing should utilize the assistance of applications that can improve spelling and grammar, such as Sipebi (Indonesian Spelling Editing Application), grammar checker in Google Docs, or Grammarly if using English terms, and so on. Subtopics should be presented directly without bullet points.
CONCLUSION: The conclusion section contains the research findings and a summary of the discussion. Concisely state the substantial findings of the research conducted. Conclusions must be supported by data and not speculative. Conclusions are consistent with the objectives/problems studied. Provide recommendations for follow-up to the research results and any further research needed. Common sense suggestions do not need to be included. If suggestions are needed, write them specifically. The conclusion is presented in ONE paragraph. The conclusion should be between 5–10% of the total length of the manuscript.
REFERENCES: Reference sources should use up-to-date literature. At least 80% of the reference sources should be published within the last 10 years. Only list the references cited here and ensure that all references in the manuscript are listed in the reference list. Prioritized references are primary sources in the form of manuscripts in journals and research results, including undergraduate theses, dissertations, and dissertations. Manuscripts published in accredited national or international journals are highly recommended/prioritized for reference. The bibliography should be written in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition) and the APA Style Guide to Electronic References. The bibliography should be written in Arial Nova Cond 12, 1.15 spacing. Before submitting an article, double-check that the references from the journal are sufficient. It is strictly prohibited to take references from blogs or simple review articles.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
