Peran bimbingan kelompok dalam adaptasi emosional generasi alpha di boarding school

Abstract


This study aims to analyze the role of group guidance in supporting the emotional adaptation of Generation Alpha students in a boarding school environment. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design at SMPIT Yayasan Kharisma Darussalam Boarding School, Karawang. Participants consisted of seven new female students, one homeroom teacher, and one dormitory caregiver selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, participatory observation, reflective journals, and documentation, then analyzed using triangulation techniques. The findings revealed that students experienced emotional adaptation problems, including homesickness, anxiety, social withdrawal, low self-confidence, digital withdrawal syndrome, and unresolved emotional wounds. Group guidance was implemented systematically through the stages of formation, transition, activity, and termination using interactive methods such as sharing circles, role play, reflective writing, and group problem-solving games. The results showed improvements in self-acceptance, emotional regulation, social adjustment, motivation, empathy, and peer support. This study contributes to guidance and counseling services in Islamic boarding schools by demonstrating that group guidance functions as a safe social laboratory for emotional catharsis, resilience building, and peer-based emotional support for Generation Alpha students.
