ABSTRACT

Posttraumatic growth is a difficult process for stroke patients because a stroke does not only threaten physical disability but also cognitive, emotional and even trauma so that many stroke sufferers experience disappointment and crisis, that it is difficult to rise or grow after a stroke. The purpose of this study was to measure the relationship between family social support and post traumatic growth (PTG) stroke survivors. Quota sampling method used in this study with 110 people who are stroke survivors who undergo therapy at the physiotherapy installation at Duri Regional Hospital. The research instrument used was the social support scale from Sarafino and the posttraumatic growth scale from Tadechi and Calhoun. Data analysis techniques using regression analysis. The results showed social support correlated with post traumatic growth in post-stroke patients (F = 25.210, R= 0.435, R square = 18.9%). The family can be the main source of support to increase posttraumatic growth in stroke survivors. This study has a limited subject, posttraumatic growth research for stroke survivors who do not undergo therapeutic physiotherapy for development.
