Peran Working Memory pada Hubungan Sleep Problems dan Prestasi Akademik pada Remaja

Abstract


Prestasi akademik pada remaja merupakan aspek penting yang dapat menjadi indikator dari kesejahteraan siswa dan perkembangan psikologisnya. Penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya menyatakan bahwa remaja dengan masalah tidur dapat berdampak pada defisit working memory mereka, dan remaja dengan defisit pada working memory cenderung memiliki prestasi akademik yang kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan di antara masalah tidur dengan prestasi akademik yang dimediasi oleh working memory pada remaja. Secara khusus, hipotesis pada penelitian ini yaitu working memory dapat berperan sebagai variabel mediator yang menghubungkan masalah tidur dengan prestasi akademik secara signifikan. Partisipan penelitian ini terdiri dari 258 siswa/i SMP (70 siswa laki-laki dan 188 siswa perempuan) dengan rentang usia 12 hingga 15 tahun. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan dokumentasi nilai rata-rata UAS, skala Working Memory Questionnaire dan skala Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis jalur dengan bantuan aplikasi PROCESS versi 4.1. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan di antara masalah tidur dengan prestasi akademik melalui mediasi dari working memory (β = 0,021; LLCI = -0,035; ULCI = -0,006). Hal ini berarti, tanpa adanya working memory sebagai variabel mediator maka tidak ada hubungan langsung di antara masalah tidur dan prestasi akademik pada remaja.
