Falsafah Kepemimpinan Dalam Islam: Refleksi Karakter Pemimpin Dalam Surah al-‘Alaq Ayat 1-5
Abstract
This article explores the philosophy of leadership in Islam as reflected in Surah al-‘Alaq, verses 1-5. The selected verses are chosen because they were revealed at the outset of the Prophet’s mission, marking the foundation of Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺleadership. While previous studies on this Surah have primarily emphasized educational aspects, the present study highlight leadership dimensions. Employing a library-based research method, this study examines primary sources—the Qur’an, hadith, and both classical and contemporary tafsīr—as well as secondary academic literature on leadership. The discussion begins with the significance of leadership from both the Islamic perspective, as articulated in the Qur’an and hadith, and from secular viewpoints. It then analyzes exegetical insights into Surah al-‘Alaq, verses 1–5, which are subsequently reflected upon. The study identifies four key leadership traits derived from these verses: knowledge, clarity of vision with righteous intention, humility (tawāḍuʿ), and God-centeredness (rabbānī). These characteristics, embedded in the opening verses of Surah al-‘Alaq, are thus highly relevant for shaping a model of leadership grounded in strong moral and spiritual values.
