The Role of Religiosity and Critical Thinking on Emotional Maturity among Z Generation in Workplace

Abstract

All industries has the objective to employ individuals with strong performance in order to achieve sustained growth. However, members of Generation Z who have recently entered the workforce are often associated with high levels of stress, depression, and anxiety. These psychological challenges are frequently attributed to low levels of emotional maturity. Therefore, this study aims to examine the influence of two key factors—religiosity and critical thinking—on the emotional maturity of Generation Z workers. The study involved 148 Muslim Generation Z workers in East Java as participants. Data were collected using three instruments: the Centrality of Religiosity Scale (CRS), the Critical Thinking Disposition Self-Rating Form, and the Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS). The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicated that religiosity has a significant positive effect on emotional maturity. In contrast, critical thinking was not found to be a significant predictor of emotional maturity.
