Pengaruh Servant Leadership Dosen Pembimbing terhadap Student Attrition melalui Student Engagement : Studi Kuantitatif pada Mahasiswa IAIN Takengon

Abstract


Tingkat student attrition yang tinggi menjadi tantangan strategis bagi keberlanjutan
institusi pendidikan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan Servant leadership yang diterapkan oleh dosen pembimbing akademik terhadap intensi attrition mahasiswa, dengan student engagement sebagai variabel mediasi. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif eksplanatori, data dikumpulkan melalui survei daring terhadap 150 mahasiswa aktif di perguruan tinggi IAIN Takengon. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) berbasis Partial Least Squares (PLS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Servant leadership berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap student engagement, (2) Student engagement berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap student attrition, dan (3) Student engagement secara penuh memediasi hubungan antara servant leadership dan student attrition. Temuan ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan bimbingan yang humanis dan melayani dari dosen adalah faktor krusial dalam meningkatkan keterikatan emosional mahasiswa dan menekan angka putus kuliah. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pendekatan kepemimpinan dosen yang berorientasi pada pelayanan dan kemanusiaan berperan penting dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan emosional mahasiswa sekaligus menurunkan kecenderungan mereka untuk meninggalkan studi.
